Country Garden and Planting Design
Bel was called in by the owners of this large country property in Autumn 2024. They had recently purchased the period home with wrap around garden, which had once been much loved, but over the years had become wild and unmanageable. The planting needed a good rethink and new fencing, gates and trellising was required to keep the clients dogs contained within the site.
Having identified plants worth keeping, Bel created new planting designs for each border, using a selection of shrubs and perennials to provide a succession of interest throughout the year. Clearance of overgrown shrubs and perennials was required, with soil improvement to bring life to the tired soils.

In Spring of 2025, the clearance and soil preparation was started, along with installation of timber screening and gates to section the garden. Bel and her team followed with planting, covering 300 square metres of beds and borders. The beds were also mulched to reduce weed growth and maintenance requirements.
Phase 2 of the project will cover a further 120 square meters of planting, once the clients young dogs have lost interest in the planting!

Our clients are really please with the design and transformation…
“Bel has been a great find for us and our garden. As novice gardeners, moving into a new house on a large, mature plot in need of a re-fresh, and with two hyperactive puppies, we presented quite a design challenge. Bel more than rose to it. She was knowledgeable, practical and patient as our ideas for containing the dogs, while creating a garden with year-round interest, evolved and changed. She oversaw the installation of new fencing and gates, and every stage of the planning and planting process was impeccably carried out, with mood boards and individual instructions for ongoing care of all the new plants, shrubs and trees. We look forward to working with Bel again on the remaining borders and bulb planting later in the year.”
